Cook Responsibilities

  • Reviewing menus prior to preparation of food.
  • Inspecting special diet trays to assure they are correct.
  • Performing administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting to the Director of Food Services.
  • Cooking service with other departments as necessary.
  • Working with the facility's Dietician, Dietetic Technician and other Supervisors as necessary and implementing recommended changes as required.
  • Assuring that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
  • Assisting in establishing food service production line, etc., to assure that meals are prepared on time.
  • Processing diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing Services and approved by the Director of Food Service.
  • Performing dishwashing/cleaning procedures.
  • Assuring that utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal.
  • Assisting in inventorying and storing in-coming food, supplies, and other duties as requested.

About the Role

Dietary Cooks play a crucial role in providing a high-quality dining experience while ensuring residents receive the most nutritional diet possible. They are responsible for reviewing menus, inspecting special diet trays, performing administrative tasks, coordinating with other departments, and assisting in various kitchen duties under the supervision of the Dietary Manager.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must be over 18 years old and able to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

Skills

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established policies and procedures are essential. Proficiency in using kitchen equipment and following recipes is also required.

Pay

Wages start at $15 and go up depending on experience and are determined by the hiring manager.

Schedule

The position requires working every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday).
