About the role

Vasona Creek Healthcare Center is a premier 148-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Los Gatos. We provide 24/7 skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and long-term care in a warm, home-like environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus and standardized recipes.
• Accurately prepare food for therapeutic and modified diets, including low-sodium, diabetic, and texture-modified (pureed) options.
• Maintain 100% compliance with local, state, and federal sanitation and infection control standards.
• Monitor and record food temperatures, label and rotate inventory, and maintain a clean, organized workstation.
• Ensure food quality and presentation meet facility standards while interacting positively with residents and guests.
• Collaborate with the Dietary Director and nursing staff to ensure appropriate nutrition for every resident.

Requirements

• Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, hospital, or long-term care facility is highly preferred.
• Valid ServSafe or California Food Handler's certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• Basic understanding of modified diets, portion control, and food safety sanitation.
• Ability to follow standardized recipes, manage time in a fast-paced environment, and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks required in a commercial kitchen setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current valid Food Handlers' Certificate.
