Essential Functions

  • Determine types and quantities of meats, vegetables, and soups to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and are timely
  • Determine the amount of foods needed to meet weekly menus and submit order to Dietary Manager
  • Assist in establishment and maintenance of perpetual supplies inventory, and notifies Dietary manager of shortages or discrepancies
  • Consult with Dietary manager regarding use of left-overs, stores, and labels accordingly
  • Consult registered dietitian on modified diets
  • Supervise dietary workers when washing, trimming, or preparing food
  • Assist in training, orientation, and supervisor of newly hired dietary staff
  • Measure and mix ingredient according to approved recipes, using blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, etc.
  • Cook meat, fish, and fowl in a variety of ways such as: baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming as well as carve into individual servings according to menu combinations and resident diet orders
  • Test food temperatures
  • Prepare special nourishment and supplements as instructed by Dietary Manager, and identify with resident name and room number
  • Always observe infection prevention and control practices
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
  • Perform all aspects of resident care in an environment that optimizes resident safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or general equivalency is preferred
  • 1 year of experience is preferred
  • Candidates must maintain a working email address and phone number for employer communication
