About the role
University Nursing and Rehab is seeking qualified individuals to join our team in the Dietary Kitchen as Dietary Cooks. You must be able to work every other weekend.
Responsibilities
- Assist in all dietary department functions, including preparing and pre-portioning food (beverages, salads, desserts, and other items) for therapeutic diets according to the planned menu.
- Handle food using proper food handling and food safety techniques according to established policies and regulations.
- Ensure the proper quantity of food is pre-portioned as directed.
- Pre-portion and distribute food according to the planned menu, resident's food preferences, and diet order.
- Ensure the proper temperature of food during preparation and distribution.
- Prepare and serve food promptly.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Ensure meals and snacks are sent from the kitchen or serving area according to established time schedules.
- Label, date, and store food properly according to established policies.
- Wash dishes, utensils, etc., according to established policies.
- Store dishes, pots, utensils, etc., in the proper location to prevent contamination and ensure items are readily available for the next meal.
- Assist in receiving, storing, and verifying invoices for incoming food and supplies as indicated by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a dietary department in a hospital or skilled nursing facility environment preferred.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during work hours.
- Maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel.
- Relate and work well with disabled and elderly residents.
- Interact professionally and respectfully with residents, family members, co-workers, and supervisors.
- SERV Safe Certification is a plus.
