Dietary Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety precautions, life safety, and infection control policies and procedures are followed.
  • Prepare food as assigned and assist cook as needed, assuring food is handled and stored using proper procedures.
  • Serve meals, clear the main dining room, and wipe tables.
  • Wash dishes and equipment and thoroughly clean work area.
  • Make sure tray preparation follows prescribed menus and resident likes and dislikes are honored when possible.
  • Prepare and distribute snacks to the nursing department as needed.
  • Stock storeroom and bring out stock as needed.
  • Take out trash; sweep and mop floors in main dining room, kitchen, and pantry; wipe pantry shelves; scrub baseboards and walls as needed; clean appliances, equipment, freezers, etc.; always leave kitchen clean and orderly.
  • Invite and arrange for families to eat with their related residents periodically.
  • Clean and sanitize all carts, wash and put away dishes, and take out garbage and recycling.

Dietary Requirements

  • Must complete orientation required by company policy.
  • Must complete health screening and TB test within two weeks of employment.
  • Must complete mandatory drug test upon hire.
  • Must be free of criminal activity proven by a criminal background check.
  • Must show, within three (3) days of hire, satisfactory evidence of identity and eligibility for employment.
  • Must have a current Food Handler’s Permit.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Dietary Cook or similar role.
  • Experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility is a plus!
