Dietary Cook & Aide

Overview

NeproPsychiatric Hospitals is seeking a Dietary Services Cook & Aide at its Crown Point location. This position plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a setting where patients have acute psychiatric and complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

• Aids in training and supervising personnel and food preparation as directed.
• Maintains accurate inventory for dietary services duties.
• Completes visual, taste, and smell tests to ensure palatability, safety, and freshness of food items.
• Maintains a clean working area during food production.
• Ensures late trays are properly processed and prepares and delivers between meal feedings as applicable.
• Performs sanitation inspections and follows safety precautions.
• Trains new dietary service workers and assists in reviewing resident diet changes.
• Prepares and serves food on the patient tray line, cleans and sanitizes trays and dishes, and maintains station stocked with food.
• Delivers patient nourishments and unit snacks as ordered.
• Alerts appropriate personnel to staffing needs and floats to other departments/facilities as directed.
• Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality and ensures protection and privacy of health information.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Courses in nutrition or food service management preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in institutional food service or family dining restaurants preferred.
• Experience in healthcare food service is a plus.
• ServSafe certification required or must obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Knowledge of elementary mathematics.
• Excellent writing, documentation, and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented.
