Overview
NeproPsychiatric Hospitals is seeking a Dietary Services Cook & Aide at its Crown Point location. This position plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a setting where patients have acute psychiatric and complex medical needs.
Responsibilities
- Aids in training and supervising personnel and food preparation as directed.
- Maintains accurate inventory for dietary services duties.
- Completes visual, taste, and smell tests to ensure palatability, safety, and freshness of food items.
- Maintains a clean working area during food production.
- Ensures late trays are properly processed and prepares and delivers between meal feedings as applicable.
- Performs sanitation inspections and follows safety precautions.
- Trains new dietary service workers and assists in reviewing resident diet changes.
- Prepares and serves food on the patient tray line, cleans and sanitizes trays and dishes, and maintains station stocked with food.
- Delivers patient nourishments and unit snacks as ordered.
- Alerts appropriate personnel to staffing needs and floats to other departments/facilities as directed.
- Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality and ensures protection and privacy of health information.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Courses in nutrition or food service management preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in institutional food service or family dining restaurants preferred.
- Experience in healthcare food service is a plus.
- ServSafe certification required or must obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Knowledge of elementary mathematics.
- Excellent writing, documentation, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented.
