About the role

MercyOne Dubuque is seeking a Dietary Assistant to join their team. The position involves assisting in providing high-quality food service to meet the nutritional needs of patients and residents across various age groups.

Responsibilities

• Assist in assembling and delivering food trays/meals for patients/residents
• Work in the dish room and perform cleaning-related duties
• Prepare patient/resident trays/meals according to guidelines and serve accurately
• Maintain a safe and sanitary environment for food service and cleaning of equipment
• Use appropriate chemicals for cleaning and sanitizing
• Clean up station, prepare dishes and utensils for washing, and store them properly after washing
• Clean dish machine and/or pots and pans area according to procedures

Requirements

• Maintain a professional, collaborative work environment to enhance MercyOne's public image
• Adhere to all relevant laws and regulations regarding patient health, food safety, and medical information (e.g., HIPAA)
• Read, speak, and understand simple oral and written instructions
• Perform manual dexterity and motor coordination tasks necessary for operating foodservice equipment and cleaning tools
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, MercyOne staff, patients/residents, and guests

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred

• Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays
