Dietary Aides/Wait Staff

About the role

The Server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean-up and resetting of dining room following meal service.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents when placing orders from the menu
• Provide beverage service (water, iced tea, juices, milk and coffee/tea)
• Refill salt/pepper/sugar bowls prior to and after each meal
• Report any broken equipment or tableware to supervisor
• Understand sit-down service and proper serving techniques
• Have a basic understanding of food preparation (salads, desserts, etc.)
• Knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum kitchen and dining room
• Attend required in-services and staff meetings
• Complete all other duties assigned
• Be attentive to special needs of residents including mobility deficits, memory impairment, etc.
• Assist with tray service
• Follow confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information
• Interact in a polite, considerate manner with residents, guests, co‑workers and supervisors

Requirements

• Be in clean designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene
• Be able to read and follow simple instructions
• Possess ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks
• Be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles
• Be able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision
• Be able to bend, reach, grasp, push and pull objects
• Be able to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three (3) hours at a time
• Be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for 20 feet
• Be organized and willing to work well with other team members
• Be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays
