About the role
Performs all duties related to sanitation of kitchen, dining, prep, and storage areas. Maintains sanitary conditions in the general kitchen area including walls, floors, and work surfaces. Ensures all kitchen equipment, tools, and surfaces are cleaned and sanitized according to policies and regulatory compliance. Assists with meal service to residents, including tray assembly, delivery, and removal, with a focus on accurate and efficient service of children’s meals according to dietary needs. May also perform or assist in other dining services activities for families, guests, and catered events.
Responsibilities
- Understands and promotes the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
- Maintains a clean environment in the kitchen and related areas, including work surfaces, equipment, and tools.
- Assists in meal assembly, delivery, and distribution of meals and snacks to residents.
- Prepares and mixes specialty formulas according to resident diet orders and recipes.
- Maintains quality assurance logs, such as temperature logs for dish machines and sanitation logs.
- Cleans office areas within the kitchen, collects soiled bottles and dishes from unit pantries, and maintains clean dining surfaces in assigned units.
- Participates in the setup and assembly of children’s meal trays and communicates preferences or requests from children and families.
- Maintains food and supplies in pantries within par levels and keeps countertops and refrigerators clean and orderly.
- Collects diet order change forms from units and prepares/distributes custom formulas.
- Attends all training sessions and in-services as scheduled.
- Reports hazardous conditions to the supervisor and performs tasks as detailed in the assigned work schedule.
- Checks and receives food deliveries in the absence of the supervisor or Storeroom Aide.
- Performs other related duties as directed by supervisors.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one year of foodservice experience in a health-related facility.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
- Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and other regulatory agencies.
- Must pass a medical and physical examination as per the Center’s policies.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 35 pounds.
- May be exposed to residents’ blood/body fluids.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents if necessary.
Working Conditions
- Works in a well-lighted and ventilated area.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- May be required to work beyond normal working hours or in other positions temporarily as needed.
Pay
$26.31 per hour.
