Dietary Aide - Part Time - Day
About the role
The Dietary Aide assists in the service of meals for patients across the lifespan, as well as visitors and staff. This role requires a strong focus on customer service, food preparation, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Provides all necessary customer service functions.
- Takes customer orders in a prompt, courteous, and efficient manner, preparing orders according to Portion Control Sheets.
- Sets up and maintains work areas and service areas with adequate supplies in an organized and sanitary manner.
- Prepares food items and completes pre-preparation assignments according to schedule and procedures.
- Makes suggestions to improve operations.
- Uses and maintains all equipment according to procedures.
- Operates cash registers, closes out accounts, and completes over-ring error slips.
- Cleans and organizes the Coffee Shop.
- Maintains a safe, sanitized, and organized work environment.
- Performs routine and non-routine sanitation tasks.
- Stocks necessary products and presents them to customers.
- Follows HACCP, HIPAA, and other guidelines.
- Communicates with patients to take menu selections, ensuring dietary appropriateness and addressing allergies and preferences.
- Operates kitchen equipment and delivers meal trays.
- Monitors and reports on pantry cleanliness and temperature.
- Stocks pantries on nursing units and delivers late trays as needed.
- Completes daily logs and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience with or knowledge of nutrition/dietetics is preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Previous weekend and holiday work experience.
- Ability to work rotating schedules and shifts.
