About the Role

The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting residents fulfill specific dietary requirements to promote their health and wellbeing. In addition, they assist the Dietary Manager in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Dietary Services Department in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, established facility policies and procedures, to ensure that quality food service and nutritional care is provided.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking food dishes, delivering food to patients, and assisting the kitchen staff in maintaining a clean, sanitary workplace
• Reviewing department policies, procedures, manuals, and position descriptions at least annually and participating in making recommended changes to stay current on facility protocols
• Interpreting policies and procedures to personnel, patients/residents, visitors, and family members, as necessary
• Preparing meals, snacks, and beverages following specific procedures
• Serving meals, ensuring food safety and hygiene procedures are followed at all times
• Taking inventory of kitchen supplies and food items
• Setting up and taking down dining areas and assisting with kitchen maintenance and general cleaning
• Assisting with educational programs on nutrition

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience as a Dietary Aide is preferred
• Bonus experience includes training in cost control, food management, or diet therapy
• Any combination of experience and training which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities of a Dietary Aide in a skilled nursing facility
• Must have reliable transportation
