Dietary Aide LTC

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing and cooking meals according to menu plans and dietary guidelines.
• Follow standardized recipes and portion sizes.
• Serve meals and beverages to residents in a timely and courteous manner.
• Ensure that meals are presented attractively and at the appropriate temperature.
• Adhere to residents' dietary restrictions and preferences as outlined in their care plans.
• Maintain accurate records of special dietary requirements and report any deviations.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment by following food safety protocols.
• Perform regular cleaning of work areas, utensils, and equipment.
• Report any changes in residents’ conditions or concerns to the nursing staff or supervisor in a timely manner.
• Assist with inventory control by checking and storing food supplies.
• Report any shortages or expired items to the Dietary Manager.
• Engage with residents in a friendly and respectful manner.
• Address any food related concerns or preferences they may have.
• Work closely with other dietary staff, nurses, and caregivers to ensure seamless meal service and address any resident needs.
• Follow all facility policies, health regulations, and safety procedures.
• Complete mandatory training and attend meetings as required.

Qualifications

• Experience: Previous experience in a food service or healthcare setting is a plus but not required. On-the-job training will be provided.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs, standing and walking for extended periods, and capability to handle hot and cold food items.
• Skills: Basic understanding of food preparation and safety procedures. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a team environment. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food quality.
