About the Role

This is an on-call part-time position working three to four days per week, 4½ hours each day, in the health center of Timber Ridge at Talus, a senior living community in Issaquah, Washington.

Qualifications

  • Valid Washington State Food Handler's Permit
  • Previous experience in nursing home food service preferred
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple math
  • Ability to understand simple measurements and conversions
  • Ability to plan and organize work, set up trays and plates in accordance with diet orders, and interpret specifications and standards
  • Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor, and peers; requires empathy for older adults

General Summary

The Dietary Aide is responsible for preparing and serving therapeutic diet trays to health center residents in accordance with posted therapeutic diet menus.

Essential Job Duties

  • Prepare therapeutic desserts and salads as required
  • Serve meals in the health center
  • Set up tables in the health center dining room and break down same after the meal
  • Transport hot and cold foods to and from the health center

Other Duties

  • Maintain station equipment and work area in a safe and sanitary condition
  • Maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene and comply with department dress code
  • Attend in-service training and education as assigned
  • Perform other specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Works indoors; must be able to stand/walk for 100% of the workday; must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. independently; must be able to push and pull tray/bus/transport carts weighing up to 50 lbs. independently; must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and balance frequently throughout the workday. May be exposed to extreme temperatures from the ovens and freezers. Must be able to see, hear, and speak. May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals, communicable diseases including the HIV and Hepatitis B virus, and offensive odors.
