Dietary Aide

About the role

The Dietary Aide position is available in the health center of Timber Ridge at Talus, a Silver LEED-certified Life Plan Community located in Issaquah, Washington. This role requires a valid Washington State Food Handler's Permit and previous experience in nursing home food service is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare therapeutic desserts and salads as required.
• Serve meals in the health center.
• Set up and break down tables in the health center dining room.
• Transport hot and cold foods to and from the health center.
• Maintain station equipment and work area in a safe and sanitary condition.
• Maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene and comply with department dress code.
• Attend in-service training and education as assigned.
• Perform other specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• Must be able to stand/walk for 100% of the workday.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. independently.
• Must be able to push and pull tray/bus/transport carts weighing up to 50 lbs. independently.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and balance frequently throughout the workday.
• May be exposed to extreme temperatures from the ovens and freezers.
• Must be able to see, hear, and speak.
• May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals, communicable diseases including the HIV and Hepatitis B virus, and offensive odors.

Qualifications

Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple math. Ability to understand simple measurements and conversions. Ability to plan and organize work, set up trays and plates in accordance with diet orders and interpret specifications and standards. Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor, and peers. Requires empathy for older adults.

Skills

Knowledge of therapeutic diets and ability to prepare and serve meals according to dietary requirements. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

$22-$24 per hour, DOE (Salary determined based on experience).

Schedule

On-call part-time schedule.
