Dietary Aide

Responsibilities

• Prepares desserts and snacks for patients under the supervision of the cook.
• Assists in meal preparation alongside the cook.
• Carries trays to patients on designated hallways.
• Helps prepare salads, desserts, and other dishes.
• Pours juice, milk, water, and tea as required.
• Prepares between-meal nourishments such as sandwiches.
• Cleans work areas at the end of each shift, including sweeping and mopping floors.
• Removes garbage from kitchen areas and cleans out garbage containers.
• Complies with infection control policies in the work area.
• Scrapes dishes, washes pots, pans, and utensils.
• Records and checks freezer and walk-in refrigerator temperatures according to established procedures.
• Restocks supplies in an organized manner.
• Stores cleaning materials appropriately.
• Sets up and performs tray line service.
• Fulfills diet orders and NPO (nothing by mouth) orders.
• Offers menu substitutions and documents them according to procedural guidelines.
• Stores leftover or opened food properly.
• Serves nourishments in accordance with procedural guidelines.
• Makes coffee and tea as requested by patients.
• Cleans kitchen equipment as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently.
• Good physical stamina and ability to lift and carry items.
• Knowledge of infection control practices.

Pay

• $18.00 - $20.00 per hour based on experience.
