Grade 10 (Manitoba Standards) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current Food Handler Training Certificate Level 1 or willingness to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities
- Assist in all aspects of food service assembly, production, and distribution with emphasis on portion control, waste reduction, sanitation, and safety
- Ensure food preparation adheres to menu and therapeutic specifications
- Maintain preparation areas, storage areas, and meal service areas in clean and sanitary condition
- Monitor and ensure food is served at optimal temperatures and leftovers are properly used
- Operate cash register and complete related cash procedures
- Assist in the training and orientation of Nutrition Services staff and students
- Ensure familiarity with all diets, reference materials, and technical terms used in Nutrition Services
- Adhere to approved menu and therapeutic guidelines for preparation and serving of therapeutic and/or texture-modified diets
- Modify client menus as directed in consultation with the Nutrition Services Supervisor, Manager, or Registered Dietitian
- Assist with food preparation, including toast, cereal, nourishments, salads, cold food prep, sandwiches, desserts, and beverages
- Assemble and serve meals to clients in accordance with portion standards and serving guidelines (tray, dining room, or cafeteria service)
- Deliver food carts/trays to designated areas and collect soiled trays/dishes
- Set, clear, clean, and sanitize dining room tables
- Prepare and deliver items for catered functions
- Perform cashier functions
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils in accordance with sanitation standards
- Maintain sanitary conditions by thoroughly cleaning Nutrition Services areas and equipment as per cleaning schedules
- Follow established safe work procedures for all relevant equipment and tasks
- Ensure all equipment is clean and operating efficiently
- Maintain appropriate labeling, dating, and storing or discarding of leftovers, including hazardous food sample maintenance
- Check, order, receive, monitor, and unpack supplies as directed
- Maintain par stock levels in designated areas
- Assist with inventory procedures
- Participate in departmental quality control audits and procedures
- Perform sundry duties as assigned
