Dietary Aide

About the role

Perform assigned work in preparing and serving food, cleaning food service areas, equipment and utensils.

Qualifications

• Education: Tenth grade or above desirable
• Proficiency in English is required
• Experience in dietary department, large volume food preparation and service preferred

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates professional conduct and ethics according to Kindred policy and procedure
• Performs job duties safely as specified in the physical, sensory and mental requirements
• Must be able to work cooperatively as a member of a team
• Prepares patient trays according to instructions/order
• Employs proper food handling techniques whether in preparation of food or setting up or serving trays
• Cleans, washes and sanitizes dishes, silverware and utensils used to service patients and others
• Assists in maintaining the general cleanliness of the dishwashing area
• Cleans work area and equipment as assigned
• Puts up stock in food storage areas and refrigerators as assigned
• Delivers food, nourishments and supplies to nursing units, other areas as assigned
• Performs duties using proper infection control techniques and using protective equipment as needed
• Performs all duties using proper safety techniques
• Essential to attend and participate in in-service education opportunities
• Performs other duties as assigned

Skills

• Knowledge of safe food preparation and handling techniques
• Ability to read and write in English at a level appropriate for the job
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members
• Ability to be patient and polite
