Dietary Aide

Essential Duties

• Serves meals to all cafeteria customers.
• Cleans work area as necessary or assigned.
• Accepts and reconciles deliveries and puts away stock.
• Assists the cook and dietary supervisor in food preparation.
• Participates in activities which enhance professional growth and development.
• Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.

Requirements

• Education and/or Licensure: High School degree or equivalent preferred. Must obtain a valid Food Handlers Certificate within 30 days of hire.
• Experience: Two (2) years' experience in a kitchen or customer service role helpful, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Additional Requirements: None.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Maintain self-control in volatile or hostile customer services interactions.
• Adjust recipes to achieve desired results.
• Read and comprehend recipes or instructions on prepackaged products.
• Use kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, mixers and dishwashers.
• Perceive the attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, and/or texture by touching with skin.
• Express and exchange ideas via spoken word during activities in which they must convey detail or important spoken instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly.
• Perceive detailed information orally and make fine discriminations in sound.
• Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.
• Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and to be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• Work amidst distractions such as noise, conversations and foot traffic; be able to handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another.
• Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction that will enable people in the role to complete administrative and clerical tasks, as well as inspect and analyze.
