Dietary Aide

About the role

Park Avenue Extended Care is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Dietary Aide to join our Food and Nutrition Services team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a team environment and takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen while helping provide quality meal service to our residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing simple foods and beverages, including toast, tea, and coffee.
• Set up dining areas, serving counters, meal trays, and tables for meal service.
• Serve, transport, and deliver meals, food trays, and supplies to designated areas.
• Assist with food and supply inventories, requisitions, and storage.
• Wash dishes, utensils, glassware, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment by hand or using automatic dishwashers.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, tables, serving counters, floors, walls, and other food service areas.
• Remove leftover food, dispose of garbage, and clean food carts and waste containers.
• Maintain proper personal hygiene and follow food safety and sanitation procedures, including the use of hairnets, gloves, and other required protective equipment.
• Assist with food preparation, portioning, and serving as directed by the supervisor.
• Help move equipment and supplies and perform other related duties as assigned.
• Adapt to changing daily assignments and assist in different food service areas as needed, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Strong attention to detail and a dependable, team-oriented work ethic.
• Manual dexterity and motor coordination to handle dishes, trays, and kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ability to perform a variety of kitchen cleaning, food service, and sanitation duties.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
• Willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
