Dietary Aide

About the Role

Cedar Valley Nursing and Rehab is seeking qualified Dietary Aides to join our team. Positions are available for day and evening shifts, both full-time and part-time. You must be able to work every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all dietary department functions, including preparing and pre-portioning food (beverages, salads, desserts, and other assigned items) for therapeutic diets according to the planned menu.
• Handle food using proper food handling and food safety techniques following established policies and regulations.
• Ensure the proper quantity of food is pre-portioned as directed.
• Pre-portion and distribute food according to the planned menu, resident food preferences, and diet orders.
• Ensure proper temperature of food during preparation and distribution.
• Prepare and serve food promptly.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Ensure meals and snacks are sent from the kitchen or serving area according to established time schedules.
• Label, date, and store food properly according to established policies.
• Wash dishes, utensils, and other items according to established policies.
• Store dishes, pots, utensils, etc., in the proper location to prevent contamination and ensure availability for the next meal.
• Assist in receiving, storing, and verifying invoices for incoming food and supplies as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Experience working in a dietary department in a hospital or skilled nursing facility environment preferred.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during work hours.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel.
• Ability to relate and work well with disabled and elderly residents.
• Professional and respectful interaction with residents, family members, co-workers, and supervisors.

Qualifications

SERV Safe Certification is a plus.
