Dietary Aide

About the role

The Dietary Aide assists with various dietary functions as directed, including setting up beverages, meals, and utensils, delivering food service to patients, and performing clean-up duties in accordance with federal, state, and facility regulations.

Responsibilities

• Set tables, serve food, and clear tables
• Remove food trays from carts and dining areas; transport to washing area
• Dispose of garbage and trash; maintain clean, dry, and hazard-free work areas
• Assist in establishing and operating the food service production line to ensure timely meal preparation
• Assist in or direct scheduled cleaning duties
• Support the cook in preparing meals
• Wash dishes using correct procedures
• Sweep, mop, and maintain dietary floors and work areas
• Participate in surveys conducted by authorized government agencies
• Follow established safety and infection control regulations and policies
• Report disrepair of kitchen and dietary appliances or equipment to supervisor
• Report accidents and incidents to supervisor immediately
• Participate in ongoing educational programs related to the job
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient information and facility business
• Follow universal precautions and isolation procedures
• Encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth, and interest in patients’ personal and healthcare needs
• Report complaints and grievances to supervisor
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
