About the Role
The Dietary Aide is responsible for aiding all food functions as directed and in accordance with established food policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Review, prepare, and serve meals in accordance with planned menus, standardized recipes, and special diet orders.
- Prepare and serve residents' nutritional bedtime snacks, as well as substitute foods for residents who refuse foods served.
- Ensure food is prepared in accordance with sanitary regulations.
- Maintain the department in a clean and safe manner by ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Follow the facility’s standards on Infection Control Precautions when performing daily tasks.
- Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures to ensure utensils are readily available for the next meal.
- Prepare and deliver snacks and food carts or trays to designated areas.
- Serve food and drinks in the dining room as instructed.
- Sweep and mop floors in the kitchen and dish room as instructed by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Maintain care and use of supplies, equipment, and the appearance of work areas.
- Perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties.
- Demonstrate patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.
- Willingness to handle residents based on their current maturity level.
- Ability to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing food practices.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
Physical Demands
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Possess sight and hearing senses, or use prosthetics, to enable adequate functioning in the role.
- Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet.
- Ability to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- May be required to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
