Responsibilities

• Supports the nutrition team in preparing, serving, and delivering meals to residents.
• Ensures residents receive safe, nutritious, and enjoyable meals that meet their dietary needs.
• Understands and follows food safety regulations and maintains proper hygiene practices.
• Assists with meal production for large groups, managing time effectively.
• Communicates with kitchen and dietary staff, collaborating on team efforts.
• Works in a fast-paced environment, standing for long periods and lifting equipment.
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen.
• Adheres to schedules and meal service timelines.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Prior health-care experience preferred.
• Prior food services experience preferred.
• Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
• Show excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
• Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment.

Qualifications

• Basic food preparation skills (chopping, slicing, measuring).
• Safe food handling and storage practices.
• Portion control and plating knowledge.
• Understanding of modified diets (low sodium, diabetic, pureed, etc.).
• Food safety and sanitation knowledge (HACCP, local health codes).
• Basic understanding of nutrition and special diets.
• Basic cooking techniques (boiling, baking, steaming, grilling).
• Use of kitchen equipment (ovens, mixers, slicers).
• Time management during meal prep.
• Attention to detail in meal prep and tray assembly.
• Inventory awareness and stocking supplies.
• Good communication skills with kitchen and dietary staff.
• Positive attitude and reliability.
