Dietary Aide AL

Job Purpose

Aids in food preparation according to established procedural guidelines, and as directed by the Dietary Manager or supervisor. Follows facility procedures for storing, serving, and transporting food and supplies. Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Fulfills diet orders and NPO diets
• Assists cooks in meal preparation, including salads and desserts
• Uses proper food handling processes, procedures, and policies
• Delivers trays to patients/residents on hallways
• Serves meals in dining areas and prepares between-meal nourishments
• Records menu substitutions in accordance with procedural guidelines
• Communicates with patients/residents/clients/family members in a friendly and helpful manner
• Answers questions professionally

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• No prior experience required, on-the-job training provided

Additional Qualifications (Preferred)

• Previous food service and/or food preparation experience
• Experience in long-term care dietary settings
