Diet Clerk ( Full Time)
About the role
The Diet Clerk reports to the Director of Food and Nutrition Services and is responsible for patient contact, nutrition care, diet compliance, patient menu management, data collection, and communication of patient needs. In addition, the Diet Clerk serves as a backup for the Food Service Assistant, performing tasks such as meal service, stocking, inventory, cleaning, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for patients regarding their dietary needs and preferences.
- Ensure accurate and timely entry of patient dietary orders into the electronic health record system.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with patient dietary plans.
- Manage patient menus, including ordering, preparation, and distribution of meals.
- Collect and document patient feedback on food quality and service.
- Communicate with other departments, such as the Food Service Assistant and the Director of Food and Nutrition Services, to ensure smooth operations.
- Perform backup duties for the Food Service Assistant, including meal service, stocking, inventory, cleaning, and documentation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant experience in lieu of High School Diploma/GED education will be considered.
- Minimum 1-5 years of related work experience required.

- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
