About the Role

Proficiently and safely diagnose and repair complex engines, transmissions, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems on diesel trucks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect heavy highway trucks to pinpoint operating deficiencies and excessive machine and/or component wear.
  • Dismantle, rebuild, adjust, and repair primary systems including drive trains, engines, transmissions, hydraulic, fuel, air, brake, pneumatic, electrical, steering, suspension, and exhaust on highway legal trucks and trailers using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
  • Provide the shop foreman with time estimates and inventory of parts or special tools required to complete assigned projects.
  • Use an established checklist to verify all repairs and workmanship, ensuring the item is fully operational and prepared for productive work.
  • Complete and submit accurate work orders.
  • Perform minor fabrication, alterations, and repairs using MIG, TIG, and oxygen/acetylene welding and cutting equipment.
  • Operate various equipment including forklifts, trucks, and heavy equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of verifiable experience and/or schooling diagnosing and repairing heavy highway trucks and trailers in a shop or field setting.
  • Relevant manufacturer and/or industry association certifications and/or degree from an accredited trade school, college, or university.
  • Able to read and comprehend technical manuals, drawings, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and repair manuals.
  • Proficient in using a computer to run diagnostic tests on truck engines and other components.
  • Knowledge of test equipment used to diagnose and repair equipment and electronic components.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work cooperatively with others, and keep accurate records.
  • Must furnish own tools.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test and fitness test prior to working.

Class B CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsement is preferred but not required.
