About the Role
Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related vehicle systems. Performs routine inspections, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on diesel-powered equipment and vehicles. Utilizes specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical issues. Ensures compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications. May work in various settings including repair shops, transportation companies, or industrial facilities.
Responsibilities
- Advanced knowledge to diagnose and repair diesel engines and related equipment including air systems, oil analysis, and cooling systems
- Proficient troubleshooting experience
- Troubleshooting of fuel system including ability to perform diagnostic tests with manufacturer software
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnosing of circuit faults
- Ability to disassemble and assemble pumps and lines for the fuel system
- Properly troubleshoot Tier 4 Systems
- Perform routine maintenance on diesel equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical problems
- Inspect diesel equipment and related equipment for safety and compliance issues
- Keep up-to-date on the latest diesel equipment technology
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations
- Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others throughout the operation at all times
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required
- Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is required
- Additional vocational/trade school training in a mechanical field
- Related equipment knowledge on engines, hydraulics, electronics, Tier 4 Systems, and fuel systems
- General understanding of basic electrical, powertrain, and hydraulic knowledge
- Moderate usage of CAT SIS and Vulcan EMS processes
- Previous experience with CAT SIS/ET or Komatsu programs required
- Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment
- Experience with aggregate equipment a plus
- Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance
- Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate loud noises
- Perform physical activities that require moving your whole body and considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials
- Travel will be required overnight as business demands
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
