About the role

As a Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on a well-maintained fleet of vehicles. You will help customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road. This role is ideal for those mechanically inclined or with vehicle repair training, offering stable career growth and hands-on experience with diverse equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and ensure vehicle safety for customers.
  • Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance repairs such as tire replacement/rotation, component lubrication, electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engine vehicles.
  • Partner with your manager to learn new skills through Penske’s technician training and hands-on coaching.
  • Work on additional projects and tasks as assigned by your supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair is a plus.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to solve problems and use tools comfortably.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and outdoors.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Willingness to comply with Penske’s instructions, guidelines, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to adhere to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies, including proper use of tools, PPE, and safety best practices.
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is required.
  • Must maintain a current driver qualification file, including an annual MVR check, DOT physical, and safety performance history records from prior employers (last 3 years). CDL holders require a DOT drug screening within 30 days of start and FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
  • Willingness to work the required schedule, complete Penske’s employment application, submit to background screening (including criminal checks, past employment, and education), and pass a drug screen and physical as required by the Department of Transportation.
  • This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety-sensitive; associates must work in a constant state of alertness and prioritize safety for themselves and others.

$25.25/hour

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent movement, standing, walking, climbing, bending, and sitting for extended periods.
  • Regular use of hands to operate tools and controls.
  • Ability to work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to see and hear to safely navigate the work environment.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg).
  • Ability to push/pull truck tires exceeding 100 pounds on a regular basis.
