About the Role

Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Suncook, New Hampshire. This role offers a stable career with weekly pay, excellent benefits, and state-of-the-art diagnostics and tools for working on heavy-duty vehicles.

Pay

  • Hourly pay: $38.60 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
  • Sign-On Bonus: $3,500

Schedule

  • Sunday–Wednesday, 4–10-hour days
  • Second Shift: 2:00 pm – 1:00 am

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Vocational or technical certification (preferred)
  • Post-secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
  • Basic tools (required)
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
    • Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
    • Basic diagnostics and repairs (AC and electrical systems)
  • Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A (preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment
  • Knowledge of computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse, etc.)
  • Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Must pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background/motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)

Responsibilities

  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including:
    • Standard vehicle maintenance
    • Preventive maintenance
    • Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers
    • Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
    • Replaces defective components as instructed
    • Works unsupervised on most tasks
    • Performs facility maintenance duties
  • Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints
  • Utilizes Shop Management System and electronic documentation
  • Works in accordance with federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Acts as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
  • Demonstrates ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
  • Other support duties as required, including:
    • Service Island support
    • SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220)
    • Complete 2 OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses (predominant OEM of fleet mix within 365 days)
