Diesel Technician B

About the role

The Maintenance Technician B works under supervision to perform repair and maintenance tasks on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis components, vehicle refuse bodies, and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a working knowledge of, and moderate skill proficiency in, various vehicle components and systems.
• Perform preventative and repair maintenance functions, both on-site and on the road.
• Diagnose and repair chassis components, refuse bodies, hydraulic and electrical systems, air and hydraulic braking systems, engines, suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems.
• Perform line maintenance welding and fabrication.
• Provide road service to ensure equipment is returned to operation safely and efficiently.
• Identify and resolve malfunctions using electronic tools.
• Complete applicable Company training programs.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

Qualifications

• Ability to diagnose multi-system issues and demonstrate technical expertise.
• Prior experience with or knowledge of maintenance work on Classes 1-5 light/medium duty and heavy-duty Class 7-8 trucks, aircraft, or ships.
• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required.
• Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required.
• 3-5 years of experience in a technician position or graduating from an accredited automotive college or technical school within the next 3 months.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision in some of the following systems: suspensions & steering; general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drive train, diesel emissions.
