Diesel Technician

Job Purpose

Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifies worn and damaged parts.

Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installs component and part upgrades; controls corrosion; completes winterization procedures.

Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; makes adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.

Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.

Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.

Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.

Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.

Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.

Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.

C Level – Duties, Responsibilities, and Qualifications

• 1-year experience
• Able to maneuver 100lbs with tooling
• Able to lift/move 50lbs independently
• Must have an active valid driver’s license
• Able to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations
• Strong written, verbal, analytical and organizational skills
• Maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities while working under pressure in a fast-paced work environment
• Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
• Adept in conflict resolution
• Basic skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

B Level – Duties, Responsibilities, and Qualifications

• 2-years’ experience
• Able to maneuver 100lbs with tooling
• Able to lift/move 50lbs independently
• Must have an active valid driver’s license
• Strong written, verbal, analytical and organizational skills
• Maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities while working under pressure in a fast-paced work environment
• Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
• Adept in conflict resolution
• Basic skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Gain an understanding of driver operations and work completed within their daily functions
• Electronic diagnostic ECM controlled components I.E., sensors, Alt, starter
• King pin replacement except international prostar 2013-2018
• Minor fabrication cap abilities, steel, aluminum MIG welding
• Wet kit installation
• Hydraulic diagnostics and component replacement
• Tire fault diagnostics and component replacement
• Manifold, turbo removal and installation
• All trailer diagnostics and repair

• 5 years plus years of experience
• Previous inventory & parts experience preferred
• Able to maneuver 100lbs with tooling
• Able to lift/move 50lbs independently
• Must have an active valid driver’s license
• Strong written, verbal, analytical and organizational skills
• Maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities while working under pressure in a fast-paced work environment
• Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
• Adept in conflict resolution
• Basic skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Blueprint comprehension skills
• After treatment diagnosis
• Moderate MS Office experience
• Gain an understanding of driver operations and work completed within their daily functions
• Work independently following company policies and procedures
• Work at various maintenance locations
