About the role

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Tulare, California. This position offers a stable career with weekly pay, excellent benefits, and state-of-the-art diagnostics and tools for working on heavy-duty vehicles.

Pay

Hourly pay: $34.00 per hour.

  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700.
  • Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 every quarter (four times per year).

Schedule

Monday–Friday, weekends off. First shift: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Vocational or technical certification (preferred).
  • Post-secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred).
  • Basic tools (required).
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (e.g., oil changes, brake and tire work).
  • Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred).
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred).
  • Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
  • Must pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background/motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years).

Note: Some positions may require additional screening, such as employment/education verification, motor vehicle records check, or customer-specific badging/background requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, and repairs.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools.
  • Identifies root causes of basic failures/conditions and performs repairs as required.
  • Replaces defective components as instructed.
  • Performs facility maintenance duties.
  • Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints.
  • Utilizes Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
  • Works in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT).
  • Performs other support duties as required, such as Service Island support.
