Diesel Technician

About the role

We are offering a $5000.00 Sign on Bonus for a talented Diesel Technician / Mechanic to join our Distribution business in Hodgkins, IL. We will be moving to a new facility in Granite City, IL as of 6/22/26.

Responsibilities

• Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
• Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
• Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
• Maintain own tools
• Perform complex unassisted engine overhauls
• Troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools
• Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation
• Provide technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)
• Proficient knowledge in troubleshooting Cummins electrical and aftertreatment using Cummins Insite
• Proficient work experience in replacing internal components (head, pistons, liners, etc.)
• Embrace the Cummins values and use them daily
• Reliable and a self-starter with a positive attitude that contributes to the team
• Customer focus mentality
• Follow and maintain the DOT requirements needed for this position if a CDL is held
• Union shop

Requirements

• Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
• Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
• Locally Valid Driving Permit (Preferred)

Qualifications

• Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
• Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)
• Proficient knowledge in troubleshooting Cummins electrical and aftertreatment using Cummins Insite
• Proficient work experience in replacing internal components (head, pistons, liners, etc.)
