About the role

Amerit Fleet Solutions, a leader in fleet maintenance across the U.S., is hiring a skilled Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join their team in Fairfield, NJ. The position involves working out of their shop in Fairfield, New Jersey, with a 60% Heavy-Duty Peterbilt fleet and 40% Ford Transit Vans.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on medium- to heavy-duty fleet vehicles
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues
• Conduct inspections to ensure vehicles meet safety and compliance standards
• Accurately document repairs and complete work orders
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including your tools and equipment
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to support fleet operations

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience performing diesel vehicle maintenance and repairs
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to own and maintain the personal tools and toolbox required for the role
• Willingness and ability to meet the physical demands of the position (detailed below)

Pay

$34.00 - $44.00/hr (based on experience)
