About the role

The Technician Apprenticeship program trains entry-level technicians in various aspects of vehicle engineering, including electrical diagnosis, air conditioning and heating component inspection, and preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Routine and preventive maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks.
  • Electrical diagnosis of starting & charging systems.
  • Air conditioning & heating component identification & inspection.
  • Wheel end assembly component identification & inspection.
  • Air system component identification & inspection.
  • Air brakes component identification & inspection.
  • Hydraulics component identification and inspection.
  • Perform basic tire work, mechanic skills, and knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems.

Requirements

To thrive as a Technician with Republic Services, the Apprentice must be a logical problem solver with an interest in engineering and technology. They should also be willing to uphold the Company’s values and be committed to completing the two-year program.

Qualifications

Our ideal Technician Apprentice will be committed to completing this two-year program. They must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include some nights/weekends or holidays, and willing to travel to and live in Dallas, Texas for 9 weeks of in-person training.

Skills

Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for vehicle engineering are essential. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and a willingness to learn new technologies are also important.

Pay

During the 9-week in-person training in Dallas, TX, the pay is $16.00 an hour. After completing 500 and 1000 hours of on-the-job training, the pay increases to $25.45 an hour with an additional $0.50 cent increase after each milestone.

Schedule

Flexible schedule to include some nights/weekends or holidays. Must be willing to travel to and live in Dallas, Texas for 9 weeks of in-person training.
