Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic

About the role

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is seeking a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic to join our team. This role requires on-the-job training to achieve Service Journeyman status, focusing on heavy-duty mechanical repairs.

Essential Functions

• Performs and/or assists in the performance of general mechanical duties, such as engine overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-up, and general maintenance.
• Gains experience by working on major components with close supervision and minor problems with minimal supervision.
• Attends training sessions and meetings to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and properly handles company tools.
• Advises the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary.
• Follows safe work practices and procedures, uses safety equipment when required, and responds to suggestions for working safely.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Safety-Sensitive

This position is designated as safety-sensitive due to the nature of the work, which includes operating, repairing, maintaining, or monitoring heavy equipment, machinery, aircraft, motorized watercraft, or motor vehicles, or handling of hazardous materials and/or waste as part of the job duties.

Qualifications

• CDL preferred.
• Minimum three years hands-on experience or graduate of vocational courses.
• A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.
• Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.
