What You’ll Do as a Diesel Engine Mechanic
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on diesel and natural gas engines.
- Remove, install, disassemble, and recondition Caterpillar power units and generator sets.
- Conduct system testing, adjustments, and failure analysis.
- Troubleshoot electronic, hydraulic, and fuel system components.
- Deliver quality work in a fast-paced shop environment.
Requirements
- Must own tools required to perform necessary repairs.
- A high school diploma or GED required.
- An associate’s degree or technical school certificate preferred.
- Previous mechanic or military experience.
- Familiarity with Caterpillar power units, generator systems, and fuel systems.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electronic, and engine systems.
- Ability to perform diagnostics, repairs, and technical troubleshooting independently.
