Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Plant City, Florida. This position offers weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a career path you can feel good about.
Responsibilities
- Interact with customers, manage accounts, resolve repair issues, and discuss new repair estimates.
- Coordinate work schedules as needed by customers.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and vehicle repairs, including:
- A/C & Heater: System checks, power to compressor, visual inspection of condenser, belt tension, etc...
- Brakes-Air: Brake operation, air leaks, drum, rotor, cam bushing measurements and adjustments.
- Brakes-Hydraulic: Air brake system tests, lining thickness measurement, and adjustments.
- Cargo Handling/Transfer, Liftgates: Fluid level checks, leaks, and minor adjustments.
- Charging Systems (electrical): Battery inspection, cleaning, testing, and replacement.
- Cooling Systems: Coolant level checks, leaks, and minor repairs.
- Cranking System (electrical): Battery inspection, cleaning, testing, and replacement.
- Lighting System and Electrical Accessories: Minor wiring problems, bulb and lens replacement, and accessory installation.
- Drive Axles: Housing leaks, oil changes, and component inspections.
- Driveline: Lubrication, inspection, and adjustment.
- Gas Engines-All Engines: Oil levels, unusual noises, and oil leaks.
- Fuel Systems: Fuel filter replacement and system component checks.
- Preventive Maintenance: Lube techniques, minimal tire inspection, brake check/applied stroke, battery check, under vehicle check/loose components, initial fault code identification, and all PMs (PM298).
- Steering and Non-driven Axles and Alignment: Grease fittings, fluid levels, toe check, and component wear.
- Suspension-Chassis and Cab: Identifying and repairing malfunctions.
- Tire and Wheel Maintenance: Pressure checks, tread depth checks, tire changes, and repairs.
- Vehicle Coupling System (PM): Slider mechanism lubrication and operation.
- Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational or technical certification in vehicle maintenance and repair services preferred.
- One (1) year or more mechanical experience working offsite at customer locations.
- Minimum tools required to perform job duties as outlined in Ryder's Maintenance policy 2.02.
- Pass a Ryder drug test and previous employer's for the past 3 years, DOT physical, Ryder road test, pass a Ryder Background check and Motor vehicle check including Drug and Alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
- Able to take home assigned mobile service truck as applicable and secure vehicle and contents.
- Valid NonCommercial Driver License CLASS E, Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A and/or State driver's license as required.
- Pass additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
