Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. This position offers a stable career with weekly pay and excellent benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Performs standard vehicle maintenance
  • Performs preventive maintenance
  • Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
  • Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
  • Works unsupervised on most tasks
  • Performs facility maintenance duties
  • Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
  • Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
  • Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Acts as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
  • Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
  • Supports operations with other support duties as required

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or Technical Certification
  • Post-secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including: routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work; basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems; required
  • Three (3) years or more relevant work experience, preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred
  • Knowledge of and the ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment

Pay

Hourly Pay: $30.50 per hour

Schedule

Monday - Friday
Second Shift 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Benefits

  • Quarterly Bonus: Ryder Pays you up to $500 Every Quarter - Four Times Per Year

Additional Requirements

  • This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles
  • In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
    • Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
    • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
    • Pass a DOT physical
    • Pass a Ryder road test
    • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
