About the role
At Hunter Truck, our family-owned Peterbilt dealership is seeking Diesel Mechanic Technicians at all skill levels—entry-level to Master-level. Positions are available in Rochester, NY, offering full-time, daylight hours.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
- Perform minor to advanced repairs as outlined on the repair order.
- Diagnose causes of malfunctions and complete repairs as directed by a supervisor.
- Aid other technicians on major repairs.
- Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Save and tag warranty or customer-requested parts.
- Examine vehicles for additional safety or service needs.
- Document all work performed and recommended, including warranty information.
- Road test vehicles as required or refer to test technician.
- Keep work area, service truck, and customer vehicles clean and organized.
- Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
- Follow all federal, state, and local regulations, and adhere to Hunter Truck safety policies.
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License required; must meet company insurability standards.
- A one-year certificate from a college or vocational/technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience, is preferred.
- Regular standing and use of hands; frequent walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs, frequently up to 100 lbs, and occasionally more than 100 lbs.
- Vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Expert to Master Levels
- Handle complex mechanical and electrical issues with minimal supervision.
- Perform electrical and/or air conditioning system repairs.
- Perform major component repairs and/or overhauls.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: We’re hiring technicians at all experience levels—from entry-level candidates with up to 3 years of experience to highly skilled professionals with 5+ years in the field.
