About the role
Transdev in Monroe, Michigan is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic III to bolster our team. This position requires the level of knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose and repair commercial vehicles and equipment. This individual must have the ability to effectively work and communicate with employees and customers.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and accurately perform all phases of vehicle repairs.
- Remove, clean, repair, reinstall, and adjust vehicle components.
- Engine repair and diagnosis
- Emission components
- Driveline components
- Electrical/ electronic components
- Brakes/ suspension/ steering/ exhaust
- Cab/ chassis
- Hydraulics
- Variety of scan tool proficient
- Ensure work orders are completed properly and accurately.
- Maintain records of all maintenance work completed including parts and supplies used.
- Select appropriate course of action for repairs.
- Evaluate completed work prior to release.
- Ensure safe use of power and hand-held tools.
- Perform road calls and emergency services, as necessary.
- Move vehicles safely between job and work area.
- Communicate professionally with customers, team members and supervisors.
- Actively participate in safety or educational training as required.
- Continuous ASE re-certification is required to remain in job classification.
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Candidates must have a high school diploma, or equivalent.
- This position requires a minimum of five (5) ASE certifications.
- New employees must earn three (3) ASE certifications within their first six (6) months of employment and must earn the remaining two (2) certifications within their first year of employment.
- Must have a valid driver’s license. A CDL license is strongly preferred, or will be required within 90 days.
- Must have an appropriate mechanic’s tool set.
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- Must have excellent communication skills, bringing demonstrated abilities of building solid relationships with superiors, peers, and subordinates.
- Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing.
- DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.

Pay
Competitive compensation package of minimum $26.25 – Maximum $32.75 / hour.
