Diesel Mechanic - Full Time
About the role
Prairie Field Services is seeking a Full-time Mechanic to join our team. This position will perform preventative maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and trailers, complete oil changes, lubrication, fluid checks, and filter replacements. The role also includes inspecting brakes, tires, lights, suspension, and other vehicle components, identifying mechanical issues before they become major repairs, performing minor mechanical repairs as needed, maintaining accurate maintenance records and inspection reports, keeping the shop clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards, and working closely with operations to maximize fleet uptime.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and trailers
- Complete oil changes, lubrication, fluid checks, and filter replacements
- Inspect brakes, tires, lights, suspension, and other vehicle components
- Identify mechanical issues before they become major repairs
- Perform minor mechanical repairs as needed
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and inspection reports
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Work closely with operations to maximize fleet uptime
Requirements
- Previous experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic preferred
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures for Class A tractors and trailers
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Able to work independently and manage priorities
- Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50–75 lbs.
- Valid driver's license required (CDL preferred but not required)
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and meet company background requirements
