Diesel Mechanic B
Essential Job Summary
Our Diesel Mechanics perform inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines. They also perform preventive maintenance inspection (PMI); troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild major components on vehicles and equipment. They ensure accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components.
Additional Responsibilities
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
- Aids in the repair and adjustment of equipment.
- Cleans vehicles and equipment.
- Conducts safety checks on vehicles.
- Assists with service calls for breakdowns.
- Performs other maintenance related work as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
- 3-5+ years’ experience as class A or B mechanic
- Computer diagnostic experience is required
- Prior experience from waste management industry or heavy equipment/yellow iron dealership experience is a plus
- Trade school or similar training is a plus
- Knowledge of safety procedures and practices
