About the role

Windstar Lines is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join their team. They specialize in maintaining charter buses and motorcoaches, offering competitive pay based on experience and industry-leading benefits.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Maintains vehicles and equipment, including buses, motorcoaches, cars, fork lifts, scissor lifts, etc.
  • Performs routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups.
  • Tests specific parts and systems to ensure proper function.
  • Identifies and repairs malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
  • Plans and establishes a timetable to complete repairs and maintenance.
  • Test drives vehicles to confirm safe and proper operation.
  • Assists the parts department.
  • Performs routine facility maintenance as directed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair.
  • Excellent mechanical repair skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals.
  • Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to get a job done quickly and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Organized and detail-minded.

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Vocational/technical school program or apprenticeship in mechanical or industrial maintenance is preferred.
  • Three or more years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent education and experience, is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, bend, stretch, kneel, squat, and crawl to perform repairs and inspections.
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
  • This position is very active and will require standing for much of the workday.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus are necessary.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Work Environment

  • Work in a remodeled, modern environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Compensation

Compensation is based on experience. A flexible work schedule is also available.
