What You'll Do as the Diesel Engine Mechanic
- Maintain and repair diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues across a range of construction equipment
- Complete preventative maintenance including fluids, filters, and wear components
- Perform repairs on engines, brakes, steering, suspension, and drivetrain systems
- Inspect equipment regularly and identify issues before breakdowns occur
- Respond to field breakdowns and perform on-site repairs as needed
- Track maintenance schedules and document completed work
- Collaborate with operators and field teams to reduce downtime and improve equipment performance
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment
Must-Haves as the Diesel Engine Mechanic
- Hands-on experience with diesel engines, trucks, and heavy equipment
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Solid understanding of preventative maintenance practices
- Strong work ethic with a sense of urgency and accountability
- Ability to communicate clearly with team members and supervisors
Nice-to-Haves as the Diesel Engine Mechanic
- Experience with paving or road construction equipment
- Welding and fabrication skills
- Familiarity with diagnostic software and tools
- CDL or ability to obtain one
