What You’ll Do
- Follow a checklist of work orders outlined by MSP Fleet Manager and other Operation Managers.
- Check Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports at beginning and throughout shift.
- Utilize asset management system and parts inventory (Fleetio) and in-cab technology (SmarTruck, Samsara, WasteLINQ).
- Test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions.
- Raise trucks or equipment by using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, pumping systems, meters, overfill systems, running gear, and other parts of vehicles.
- Do routine maintenance, such as changing oil, checking batteries, and greasing equipment and parts.
- Adjust and align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and attach system components.
- Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment.
- Maintain inventory tracking of tools and supplies.
- Comply with Safety, DOT, OSHA, and EPA procedures.
- Attend all company required continuing education and training programs.
- Collaborate with Dispatch/Operations to ensure clear understanding of repairs and maintenance needed on equipment and priority in which to complete.
- Perform quarterly periodic maintenance and inspections on all assigned equipment.
- Perform weekly lot checks to ensure all equipment is in good working order.
- Coincide with various departments to ensure high level operational issues are resolved completely and in a timely manner.
- Regularly share best practices and learning opportunities with peers across all MSP teams.
- Review parts invoices with MSP Fleet Manager for any discrepancy and collaboration for timely approval and payment.
- Able to diagnose/repair engine after-treatment systems, other engine work as needed, replace clutches, and repair transmissions when needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of mechanical experience (diesel, automotive, construction equipment); 8+ years preferred.
- Valid Class A CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements (or ability to obtain).
- TWIC card (or ability to obtain).
- ASE certifications preferred — see incentive structure below.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Having your own tools is preferred.

- Strong diagnostic and repair skills, especially with diesel engines and after-treatment systems.
- Experience with pumps, clutches, transmissions, and electrical systems.
- Effective communicator with solid problem-solving abilities.
