Diesel Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnosis and preventive maintenance services
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair on a variety of heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment
• Work under limited supervision and select from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Company / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
• Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs
• Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns
• Conduct annual safety checks on vehicles
• Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
• Absorb and assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
• Active applicable certificates, licenses, or registrations are a plus
• Valid driver’s license
• At least 18 years of age

Qualifications

• Able to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
• Able to pass pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check

Skills

• Physical coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.)
• Physical effort in handling heavy objects throughout the workday
• Exposure to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.)
• Exposure to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements often
