Diesel Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance services within acceptable standards for Dayton Freight Lines.
• Diagnose, repair, and replace external engine components using ECM diagnostic programs and other techniques.
• Test and repair entire truck chassis electrical systems.
• Develop proficiency in repairing major power and drive train components.
• Perform PM inspections and services according to DFL policy and time standards.
• Repair, adjust, and align suspension and brake systems.
• Maintain tire maintenance program according to DFL policy.
• Perform service calls as per DFL guidelines or individual location guidelines.
• Wash and fuel equipment as necessary.
• Conduct vehicle road tests to ensure quality repairs.
• Perform other maintenance duties or assignments as assigned.
• Maintain a positive attitude and professional interaction with colleagues.
• Participate in maintaining the shop, grounds, and equipment in a clean and safe manner.
• Record all work and labor in the EMS system.
• Work with the Parts Department to maintain proper stock levels.
• Comply with Parts Department procedures and rules.
• Continuously improve maintenance processes.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid Driver's License.
• Basic math skills.
• Fluent in English.
• Pass a drug screen.
