Diesel Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance services within acceptable standards for Dayton Freight Lines.
• Diagnose, repair, and replace external engine components.
• Test and repair entire truck chassis electrical systems.
• Become proficient in the repair of all major power and drive train components.
• Perform PM inspections and services according to DFL policy and time standards.
• Repair, adjust, and align suspension systems and brake systems.
• Maintain the tire maintenance program according to DFL policy.
• Perform service calls according to DFL guidelines or individual location guidelines.
• Wash and fuel equipment when necessary.
• Perform vehicle road tests to ensure quality repair service.
• Perform other maintenance duties or assignments as necessary.
• Develop skills to become a leading participant in the care and upkeep of the shop, the grounds, and all equipment and tools.
• Record all work and labor on a computer in the EMS system.
• Work with the Parts Department to maintain proper quantity levels of materials.
• Comply with Parts Department procedures and rules.
• Continuously improve processes.

Requirements

• Possess a valid Driver's License.
• Basic math skills.
• Fluent in English.
• Pass a drug screen.

• Able to perform routine physical tasks associated with equipment maintenance and repair.
• May include standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, lifting, and using hand and power tools.

Pay

$33.10 - $38.10/hour
