About the role
The Diesel Maintenance Technology Trainer will lead non-credit, hands-on training programs in diesel engine repair and maintenance. This role is ideal for an experienced diesel mechanic looking to inspire and prepare the next generation of skilled workers in the agriculture, transportation, and industrial sectors.
Responsibilities
- Teach diesel engine maintenance and repair in both classroom and shop settings
- Develop and deliver competency-based curriculum and lesson plans
- Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment
- Track student progress and provide individualized support
- Maintain instructional tools, equipment, and training facilities
- Align training with industry standards and local workforce needs
- Collaborate with employers and staff to promote job placement opportunities
- Participate in student recruitment and retention efforts
- Stay current with trends in diesel technology through ongoing professional development
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree in Diesel Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field
- Industry-recognized certifications (ASE, NCCER, or equivalent)
- 5+ years of professional experience in diesel maintenance (agricultural, transportation, or industrial sectors)
- Prior experience in teaching, training, or mentoring roles
- Knowledge of workforce training programs and adult education practices
- Effective communication and leadership skills
- A passion for workforce development and student success
